Examples of Successful and Unsuccessful Interview Requests
A successful interview request. This great reporter got the interview and we loved his article!
Who do you represent?

Which of Sarah's books will your piece be discussing?
The Tales of Chetzemoka
Please give some examples of the questions you'll be asking. (The more the better, but please make sure they relate to Sarah's books!)
1) The thing I love about these books is that they're a real labour of love. The article I'm writing is about doing things that bring you joy, and how your books and videos and website have inspired me. The sheer joy you experience writing really comes across on the page. How do you manage to convey that so well?
2) Another thing I love about these books is that, at their heart, they're about friendship and the families we create ourselves. How important is it to have a "family of choice" and did you draw upon your friendships in crafting these books?
3) I'm an avid reader of your website and I think I've watched every one of your YouTube videos at least twice, so I know how much research you do for these novels, and I also know how important it is that you get details right and how much you enjoy it. What advice would you give to people who want to pursue something they love, but maybe don't know how to start? What advice would you give to aspiring writers on research and writing?
4) You are a very earnest writer, and I find that so refreshing. How did you find your voice as a writer? Because it really is so authentic.
5) The first book was about Kitty and Doc, but they become supporting characters later in the series as Jacob and Addie take a more prominent role. Why was that?
6) Your books are very optimistic, even when dealing with serious issues (Kitty's late husband or Lizzie's fertility issues). One of the most interesting plots to me was Ken's ennui in "A Trip in a Tumble," because I can SO RELATE to being locked in a dull office job all day and wanting to get out into the world. Do you think more people should give up their office jobs and do what they love, or should they play it safe like Ken did?
7) I'm from Appalachia (I live in East Tennessee now, which is where McCoy is from, but I grew up in East Kentucky), and I love Nurse McCoy. She's so feisty and no-nonsense. Why did you choose to make her Appalachian?
8) I'm aso gay, and reading between the lines - such as in "A Rapping at the Door" when Ken breaks his arm and Felix squeezes his hand, or in "Delivery Delayed" when Felix asks Sophie how much she saw of him and Ken in the bushes and refers to himself as a "confirmed bachelor" and in a "Trip and a Tumble" when Ken is talking about not wanting to get married - I pictured Ken and Felix as a sort of closeted gay couple (perhaps even one that is tacitly acknowledged by their friends). Was this intentional on your part, or did I just read my own meaning into it?
9) When can we expect the next book to be published, and can you give us any hints as to what it's about?
10) Finally, you are someone who has just brought so much joy to my life in what has been a very crappy year. So thank you for that. What advice would you have for people who are feeling just a bit cynical or depressed about the state of the world? What advice would your characters give?
Thank you so much, Sarah!
